Nikki Giovanni (1943 - ) is one of the world’s most famous American poets and foremost authors. She is a professor, writer, commentator and activist. A leader in the Civil Rights, Black Arts and Black Power movements. Her exploration of racial and gender identity transformed conversations around black womanism.
