Ida B Wells (1862 –1931) was an investigative journalist, educator, women’s rights activist and fearless anti-lynching crusader. As a co-founder of the NAACP and leading contributor to The Crisis magazine, she documented the persistent brutal campaigns of terror against innocent black families and communities. Her personal and professional accomplishments continued despite ongoing threats and attacks. A mob destroyed her newspaper offices causing her to move North for safety.
She continued writing, speaking, and organizing for civil rights and the women's movement. Wells unwavering resolve continues to inspire, embodying the courage and determination needed to effect lasting change. Notable works: Southern Horrors (1893), A Red Record (1895), Mob Rule in New Orleans (1900) and Autobiography (1970)
